Leisure, Travel and Tourism

GCSE Leisure, Travel and Tourism is offered by the Geography Department to reflect interest in this local growth sector.  We follow the CCEA specification. Unit 1 is taken by students in Year 11. Students gain insight into the various components of the industry and current technological developments which involve social media and on-line market presence. In Year 12 students prepare for Unit 2 which considers the principles of sustainable tourism when examining the positive and negative social, economic and environmental effects of leisure, travel and tourism development. Marketing, customer service and health and safety regulations are also studied in Year 12 and applied through a piece of Controlled Assessment work.
