The Charity Committee would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to those of you who contributed to the Ukrainian Appeal. We have been overwhelmed by the sheer number of items that members of the Hunterhouse Community have provided in support of this. We received 440 female sanitary items, 260 boxes of paracetamol and ibuprofen, 317 packages of soap, 219 non-perishable food items, 113 tubes of antiseptic cream, 45 bottles of shampoo, 574 toothbrushes and toothpaste, 344 wet wipes and a further 308 miscellaneous items. These were carefully sorted, wrapped and boxed by members of the year 14 student body and are now currently in transit to Poland. As we see the magnitude of the humanitarian disaster relayed on the news each day, we truly hope that for those who have been forced to flee their homes and seek refuge in Poland, that they may take some small comfort in knowing that the wider world, including the Hunterhouse Community, lament their plight and hope for an end to the civilian suffering in Ukraine.
We would also like to thank Rowan Barnley in year 14, who suggested that the Charity Committee arrange the appeal in the first instance, as well as Emily Watson, our Head Girl and her Deputy, Joanna Courtney for coordinating the appeal. Thanks also to Balmoral Furniture in Dunmurry for supplying cling film to wrap products to ensure that they arrive to their destination intact.
In the face of adversity, it is truly amazing to see the generosity and kindness of others.
